Our History

Fibre Drums Limited was the first of the group's businesses to be established, having been founded in 1969 by Franc Cunniffe. The company proceeded to grow until its relocation to its current site in Haydock and it was here, in 1984, that FDL Packaging was created and the distribution business was born. Ever since the first fibre drum was rolled into production, FDL Packaging Group have taken pride in being the UK’s market leader for industrial packaging and fibre drum distribution.

In 2004 the group then acquired Cases for Industry, which provided a solution to FDL customers' increased demand for a variety of wooden packaging, ranging from cases and crates to pallets and stillages, whilst thereafter, in 2014, Arran Pipeline Supplies joined the group of companies. Whilst not a packaging business but instead a stockist and distributor of carbon and stainless steel pipe, fittings, flanges and valves, Arran Pipeline Supplies had close family connections to FDL, and upon joining the group multiple synergies arose.

Today, the FDL Group remains fully family owned with Stephen Cunniffe, Franc's son, the current Managing Director of the group. With numerous long-serving employees across all areas of our business, we are confident that our experience and knowledge will help you in sourcing cost-effective products of the highest quality.
